James LaChance was raised in the Red River Valley, along the northern border of Minnesota and North Dakota. Over the years, he has had the privilege of collaborating with exceptional architects, educators, artists, and craftspeople both in the United States and abroad. These experiences have been instrumental in shaping his skills and deepening his understanding of creating thoughtful, high-quality work.
James is equally comfortable working across a wide range of materials, including food, paper, paint, clay, metal, and wood. His creative process is guided by a respect for the unique qualities of each medium. By allowing the material, technique, and design to inform one another, he strives to create work that is both purposeful and beautiful.
