Webster Pottery
Webster Pottery in Katie and Andrew Webster. Together, the Webster’s make finely crafted utilitarian pottery decorated with archetypal imagery inspired by the natural world. Their process of creating pottery is collaborative from start to finish, allowing Katie and Andrew to bring their unique strengths and perspectives to the finished work, notably Andrew’s background in Art History and Katie’s in Marriage & Family Therapy. The surfaces are achieved using raw clay, paper resist, slips, stains, glazes, and overglazes. The variety in techniques allows the decoration and imagery to build intuitively and in multiple layers. The finished work portrays a synthesis of the Webster’s craftsmanship, creativity, metaphor, and individual experiences. Webster Pottery is fabricated from stoneware and fired with wood and soda, giving each piece depth, quality, and individuality.
